Hangers should be spaced no more than 24 inches apart and screwed into rafters, not just your fascia board. Fascia can’t support the weight of gutters full of water and debris, so systems mounted only to fascia sag or pull away over time.
Downspouts need to drain at least five feet away from your foundation, and corners should be sealed with quality sealant—not just snapped together and hoped for the best. If your installer didn’t test the system before leaving or didn’t explain how to maintain it, that’s a red flag. You should know exactly how your gutters work and what to watch for.
