A small roof leak doesn’t stay small. Water finds its way into your attic, your insulation, eventually your ceilings and walls. What starts as a stain becomes structural damage, mold growth, and a bill that keeps climbing.
You’re looking at this page because something’s wrong. Maybe you noticed water spots after the last storm. Maybe your gutters are overflowing and you’re worried about what’s happening underneath. Maybe you just want someone to check things out before winter hits hard.
Here’s what matters: catching roof damage early means you’re looking at a repair, not a replacement. Average roof repair in Merrimack runs around $500 to $1,500 depending on the issue. A full replacement? That’s $5,000 to $10,000 or more. The math is simple—fix it now or pay a lot more later.
Paradise Remodeling Inc has been handling home repairs and roofing work across southern New Hampshire for over a decade. We’re an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which means we meet their standards for quality work and customer service—not just once, but consistently.
Merrimack gets hit with everything: heavy snow, ice dams, spring storms that dump inches of rain in hours, summer heat that bakes your shingles. Your roof takes a beating. We know what fails first, what holds up, and how to fix it so it actually lasts.
We’re not the biggest name you’ll find. We’re local, we’re licensed and insured, and we show up when we say we will. That’s what matters when you need your roof fixed.
First, we schedule a time that works for you—usually within a day or two, faster if it’s an emergency. We come out, get on your roof, and figure out what’s actually wrong. No guessing. We take photos, show you what we found, and explain what needs to happen.
Then we give you a straightforward estimate. We break down the work, the materials, and the timeline. If it’s something urgent—like active leaking—we can often handle temporary repairs the same day to stop further damage while we schedule the full fix.
Once you’re ready to move forward, we order materials and get on the schedule. Most repairs take a day, sometimes two depending on scope and weather. We handle the work, clean up the site, and walk you through what we did. You’re not left wondering if it’s actually fixed.
If insurance is involved, we can work with your adjuster. We document everything and provide the details they need. You’ve got enough to deal with—we try to make this part easier.
Ready to get started?
Shingle replacement is the most common repair we handle. Wind, hail, and age cause shingles to crack, curl, or blow off entirely. We match your existing shingles as closely as possible and replace damaged sections so your roof stays watertight.
Flashing repairs come next. Flashing seals the vulnerable spots—around chimneys, vents, skylights, and where your roof meets walls. When flashing fails, water gets in. We reseal or replace flashing to stop leaks at the source.
We also handle emergency roof repairs when storms cause sudden damage. Tarping, temporary patches, whatever it takes to protect your home until we can complete permanent repairs. Merrimack sees its share of severe weather—coastal storms, nor’easters, heavy snow loads. We’ve dealt with all of it.
Gutter issues often tie into roof problems. Clogged or damaged gutters cause water to back up under your shingles. Ice dams form in winter when gutters can’t drain properly. We address gutter problems as part of keeping your whole roofing system functional.
If the damage is localized—a section of missing shingles, a leak around the chimney, storm damage in one area—you probably need a repair. If your roof is over 20 years old, you’re seeing widespread curling or missing granules, or you’ve got multiple leak points, replacement starts making more sense.
Here’s the honest answer: we’ll tell you which one you actually need. We make more money on replacements, but we’re not going to sell you one if a repair will hold up for another 5-10 years. Most homeowners appreciate knowing the truth so they can plan accordingly.
Age matters too. Asphalt shingles last 20-30 years depending on quality and weather exposure. If you’re at year 18 with damage starting to show up, putting money into repairs might not be the smartest move. But if your roof is 10 years old and you’ve got isolated storm damage, repair it and move on.
For active leaks causing interior damage, we can usually get someone out the same day or next day to stop the immediate problem. That might mean tarping, temporary patching, or sealing the leak point so you’re not dealing with water coming into your house.
Permanent repairs get scheduled based on weather, material availability, and our current workload—but usually within a few days to a week. We’re not going to leave you with a tarp on your roof for three weeks. Emergency situations get priority.
The key is calling as soon as you notice the problem. The longer water comes in, the more damage it does to insulation, framing, drywall, and anything else in its path. A quick temporary fix buys time for the right permanent repair without your home taking more damage in the meantime.
Flashing failure is the number one culprit. The metal strips that seal roof penetrations and transitions deteriorate over time, especially with our freeze-thaw cycles. Once flashing fails, water finds its way in during every rain.
Missing or damaged shingles come in second. High winds, falling branches, and age cause shingles to lift, crack, or disappear entirely. Even a few missing shingles create entry points for water, and the problem spreads from there.
Ice dams are a huge issue in Merrimack winters. When your attic is too warm, it melts snow on your roof. That water runs down and refreezes at the eaves where it’s colder, creating a dam. Water backs up under your shingles and leaks inside. Proper attic ventilation and insulation prevent this, but once you’ve got an ice dam, you need it removed carefully and the resulting damage repaired.
It depends on what caused the damage. Storm damage, hail, wind, falling trees—those are typically covered events. Gradual wear and tear, age-related deterioration, or damage from lack of maintenance usually aren’t covered.
Your deductible matters too. If repairs cost $800 and your deductible is $1,000, filing a claim doesn’t help you. But if you’re looking at $3,000 in storm damage repairs, it’s worth filing. We can provide documentation, photos, and detailed estimates for your insurance company.
One thing to know: some insurance companies have been pushing back harder on roof claims, especially if your roof is older. They might depreciate the payout based on age or try to argue the damage was pre-existing. Having a contractor who knows how to document storm damage properly makes a difference in getting your claim approved.
Most repairs take four to eight hours—basically a full work day. Simple fixes like replacing a few shingles or resealing flashing might only take a couple hours. Larger repairs involving multiple areas, structural work, or extensive shingle replacement might stretch into a second day.
Weather plays a role. We can’t do quality roof work in heavy rain or on ice-covered surfaces. If conditions aren’t safe or won’t allow proper installation, we’ll reschedule rather than do subpar work. You want repairs that last, not quick fixes that fail in six months.
We’ll give you a realistic timeline when we provide the estimate. If we say it’s a one-day job, we show up with enough crew to finish it in one day. We’re not the company that starts your repair and then disappears for a week to work on other projects.
First, contain the water inside your home. Put buckets under active drips, move furniture and belongings away from the leak, and soak up standing water to prevent it from spreading. If water is coming through a light fixture, turn off power to that circuit—water and electricity don’t mix.
Take photos of the damage, both inside and outside if you can safely do so. You’ll need documentation if you’re filing an insurance claim. Note when the leak started and what the weather conditions were.
Call us as soon as it’s safe to do so. We handle emergency roof repairs and can often get someone out quickly to tarp or temporarily seal the problem area. Don’t wait until the storm passes and then wait a few more days to call—every hour that water comes in causes more damage. The faster you stop it, the less you’re dealing with in terms of interior repairs and potential mold issues.
