For active leaks, we prioritize emergency calls and typically get someone out within 24 to 48 hours. If it’s a severe storm situation and multiple homes are affected, it might take a bit longer, but we’ll let you know upfront.
In the meantime, you can minimize damage by putting a bucket under the leak, moving furniture and belongings away from the area, and placing a tarp over the affected section if it’s safe to do so. Don’t go on your roof in bad weather—it’s not worth the risk.
Once we arrive, we assess the damage and do temporary repairs if needed to stop the water. Then we schedule the permanent fix. The goal is to get your home protected as quickly as possible so the leak doesn’t turn into a bigger problem.
It depends on what caused the damage. Insurance typically covers sudden events like storm damage, fallen trees, or wind that rips off shingles. It usually doesn’t cover wear and tear, aging, or damage from lack of maintenance.
If you file a claim, the insurance company will send an adjuster to inspect the damage. We can meet with the adjuster, provide documentation, and explain what needs to be repaired. We’ve worked with most major insurance companies and know how to present the information they need.

Most repairs take one to two days, depending on the extent of the damage and weather conditions. Replacing a section of shingles or fixing flashing around a chimney is usually a same-day job. Larger repairs that involve underlayment or deck replacement take longer.
Weather plays a role. We can’t install shingles in heavy rain or when temperatures drop below freezing, because the adhesive won’t seal properly. If we have to pause for weather, we’ll make sure your roof is protected with tarps until we can finish.
You don’t need to be home during the repair, but someone should be available at the start and end so we can walk you through what we’re doing and answer questions. We clean up debris and nails when we’re done, so you’re not left with a mess in your yard.
Ice dams form when heat escapes from your attic and melts snow on your roof. The water runs down to the colder eaves, refreezes, and creates a dam. More water backs up behind it and seeps under your shingles, causing leaks.
The main culprits are poor attic insulation and ventilation. If your attic is too warm, it melts the snow. If it’s properly insulated and ventilated, the roof stays cold and snow melts evenly without refreezing at the edges.
We fix ice dam damage by removing the ice safely (never with a hammer or sharp tools, which damage shingles), repairing any leaks or shingle damage, and then recommending insulation or ventilation upgrades to prevent future dams. Adding ridge vents, soffit vents, or improving attic insulation keeps your roof temperature consistent and stops the melt-refreeze cycle. It’s a common issue in Massachusetts, and it’s fixable.
